Schuyler County believes it has a golden opportunity for business development, and a new grant aims to help make that vision a reality.
FLX Gateway, the Schuyler County Partnership for Economic Development, has been awarded a $30,000 NYSEG grant to support targeted marketing of the Schuyler County Business Park, a New York State REDI Site – Gold designated location.
The grant was awarded through NYSEG’s Economic Development Strategic Outreach Program, FLX Gateway announced Feb. 16.
The Business Park spans 51 acres and is located on state Route 414 just outside Watkins Glen. Development-ready space is currently available, including a 19,000-square-foot pre-engineered building with 11,000 square feet ready for lease.
The park is served by municipal water and sewer from the Town of Dix, three-phase electric and natural gas from NYSEG, fiber broadband, and direct access to regional highway and rail networks, FLX Gateway highlighted.
“We’ve invested years preparing this site, completing due diligence, and earning the REDI Gold designation,” said Jon Beckman, FLX Gateway Board Chair. “This grant allows us to market the Schuyler County Business Park — and the many benefits of living in the Finger Lakes region — directly to national decision-makers, positioning Schuyler County well for the manufacturing renaissance and turning preparation into real investment and job creation.”
The economic development organization said the NYSEG grant will support more participation in national site selection conferences and professional forums, including events hosted by the Site Selectors Guild, where FLX Gateway will directly engage site selection consultants, manufacturers, and corporate real estate decision-makers.
Funds will also be used to strengthen the park’s visibility through enhanced site-selection platform listings and updated marketing materials that reflect the park’s REDI Gold status and infrastructure readiness, FLX Gateway stated.
“The Schuyler County Business Park is more than shovel-ready — it’s a REDI Gold–designated site with infrastructure in place and space available now for new year-round businesses,” added FLX Gateway CEO Judy McKinney Cherry. “The NYSEG grant helps us take that message directly to decision-makers. It allows us to be more visible in the markets where real location decisions are being made.”
Local matching funds will also support the project, which aligns with NYSEG’s goal of encouraging private investment and job creation within its service territory by helping communities bring market-ready assets directly to decision-makers, FLX Gateway said.
“By supporting outreach tied to a site that is already certified, serviced, and available now, the initiative focuses on converting readiness into real investment, increased employment, and economic development,” the organization stated.
