Do You Have a Posture Change in Your Swing?
Interesting enough I was able to get my old college roommate into the gym with me. Remember he is the guy I played golf with over the weekend, and lets just say it was not a good round.
Better yet, lets just say it was down right ugly.
At the end of the round I told him about how with almost every SWING I saw him change his POSTURE.
Causing his SPINE ANGLE TO CHANGE which we all know mess up your golf swing real quick.
Now my first suggestions to him were to add some BALANCE EXERCISES into his program to help his body maintain balance during the golf swing.
Once I got him into the gym and did the FLEXIBILITY ASSESSMENT found in my
One-Up Advanced Golf Fitness System I found out some interesting information.
It was not only his body struggling to maintain his balance during the swing, but also his FLEXIBILITY.
Bottom line the guy is wrapped up "tighter than a rubber band!"
It's no wonder he can't keep his spine angle during the swing.
His hips are so TIGHT he can't keep his posture during the swing.
I especially noticed the inflexibility of his hip flexors.
Now when the HIP FLEXORS are TIGHT, these muscles "pull" your hips underneath you,
So every time you get into your address position and begin your back swing, these muscles will pull your hips forward causing you to CHANGE YOUR POSTURE.
To make a long story short:
I gave my buddy a series of GOLF FLEXIBILITY EXERCISES from my One-Up Advanced Golf Fitness System.
In addition I put together a series of balance drills. The combination of golf flexibility and balance exercises should get him going in the right direction.
