I Recently Needed to Jump Start My Golf Fitness Program!

I hit a plateau a month or so ago with my workouts. I felt like I was in a little rut, not making the gains that I wanted with my goals.

I can remember the day, August 31st . I decided I needed to change things up a little with my workout routine, so I reset some of my targets and decided to lose a few unwanted pounds of blubber.

Do You Have a Plan?

I was out playing a round of golf this past week with a good friend of mine. We were actually roommates in college. The stories from those days will be for another day.

He and I have been playing golf for about the same amount of time, and it is very interesting to me the state of each of our games.

It was a good round for me, I played better on the front nine than the back, but overall I was pretty happy. I drove the ball well, putted better on the front than the back, but hit some nice recovery shots coming into the clubhouse.

Now my buddy on the other hand was a different story. His round didn't start out bad, birdied the first hole, bogeyed the second, birdied the third, and then the wheels fell off!

He was so much in his head by the 13th hole, he couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from 10 feet away. Now I realize we all have those days on the course, when everything goes awry, but this is a common pattern with my buddy.

He was an 18 handicap two years ago and still is today, not a lot of improvement in my book. And it is not from a lack of playing, he probably has played more golf in the past two years than me.

I blame his lack of improvement from having NO GAME PLAN.

He does not go out and practice, does not take lessons on a consistent basis, nor does he stick with a golf fitness program.

You add it all up and it makes senses why he is not getting better, and frustrated as well.

I know from my personal experiences and travels on the PGA Tour. Golf is a sport requiring a plan to improve your game.

Agree or disagree with Phil's preparation plan for Majors it has worked well for him, where he has won one in each of the last three years.

He as like every other Tour player has a plan on how to improve their game, and as amateurs I would suggest the same.

This a great time of the year for you to get this type of plan in place;

The golf season is winding down, we can look back on the year and determine where we need to improve, and implement a plan to do so this off-season.

My suggestion for an OFF-SEASON GOLF IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM would include the following:
1. Golf swing improvement program; take this time to address the faults in your swing and fix them, Rick Smith's Signature Video Series can help in this area.
2. Short game and putting; we can all improve in these areas, and using something like Dave Pelz's 10 Minutes a Day to Better Putting would be my suggestion.
3. Golf fitness program; improve your flexibility, get your lower back feeling better, loose a couple, and increase your clubhead speed; My Your Body & Your Swing golf fitness system can help here.

If you take my suggestions and put them to good use over the next 3 months, I will guarantee an improvement in your golf swing.

I also realize you do not have 2 hours a day to work on your golf game. I will tell you right now it is not needed. If you take 20 MINUTES 3 times a week, your game will get better.

Split this time up between my golf fitness program, Dave's putting, and Rick's swing drills it will happen.

Make It Happen!
