I Recently Needed to Jump Start My Golf Fitness Program!

I hit a plateau a month or so ago with my workouts. I felt like I was in a little rut, not making the gains that I wanted with my goals.

I can remember the day, August 31st . I decided I needed to change things up a little with my workout routine, so I reset some of my targets and decided to lose a few unwanted pounds of blubber.

Fix the Posture Changes in Your Golf Swing

This morning when I was going through a series of flexibility exercises, I began to think about my buddy. If you recall I worked out with him in the gym before heading to Chicago and found out his hips were as inflexible as a two-by-four!

I personally do not have this problem with my hips because I understand how important HIP FLEXIBILITY is to execute the golf swing.

As a result I am always sure to do a series of GOLF FLEXIBILITY exercises that keep my hip LOOSE and MOBILE.

I found it very interesting the problems my buddy has with his HIPS THAT ARE LOCKED IN CONCRETE and what PGA Teaching Professional Christopher Smith and I were discussing a few weeks ago.

If you recall I was up in Portland a few weeks ago filming some new golf fitness and golf instruction videos.

I teamed up with well-known PGA Teaching pro Christopher Smith. One on the swing instruction videos we filmed was on common faults in the amateur's golf swing.

Christopher works with 1000's of golfers every year and one common fault he views all the time are golfers standing up during the backswing.

During the video he asked me point blank;

"Sean, what physically can be causing this SWING FAULT I see all the time?"

First off I did not realize how common a swing fault it was and secondly how EASY A FIX the SWING FAULT would be.

I told Christopher this is commonly what I call a FLEXIBILITY FAULT disguised as a Swing Fault.

The golfer's hip are tight and immobile, especially the hip flexor muscles. As a result when the golfer begins the backswing.

These TIGHT MUSCLES pull the hips forward forcing the golfer to stand up,

NEVER allowing them to maintain a PROPER SPINE ANGLE during the swing.

I said the FIX for this is simply adding a series GOLF FLEXIBILITY EXERCISES to loosen the hips.

I told him the series I like to use are found in my One-Up Advanced Golf Fitness System are simple to perform and take maybe 5 minutes to complete.

The exact golf flexibility exercises I use for TIGHT HIPS are:

Kneeling Hip Flexor, Standing Quad, and Spiders.

I finished the conversation by saying:

In a short amount of time the hips will begin to become loose and changes in spine angle from tight hips will not happen again.
